Dr. Oren Gall is a dedicated Associate Teaching Professor at the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at Penn State University. Renowned for his passion for education and innovation, Oren Gall instructs key courses such as Digital Design: Theory and Practice (CMPEN 270), Senior Design (CMPEN 482W), and Biomedical Imaging (BME 406). His teaching is consistently rated highly by students, with evaluations ranging between 4 and 5 out of 5, and he frequently receives outstanding feedback for his engaging and effective instruction.

Oren Gall’s commitment to professional excellence extends beyond the classroom. He serves as the State Director for the Central Region of the Pennsylvania Society of Professional Engineers (PSPE). He advises the Penn State Student Chapter of PSPE, which he co-founded with students in 2017. His leadership within the engineering community is further exemplified by his selection for the National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE) Emerging Leaders Program in 2020–2021, where he collaborated with a cohort of professionals to address contemporary challenges in the engineering field.

An expert in electrical and computer engineering, Oren Gall’s technical proficiencies include circuit design, digital design, power electronics, circuit fabrication, nanofabrication, and programming languages. His academic journey began at Rutgers University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering with high honors and a minor in Chemistry in 2006. He further honed his expertise at Purdue University, earning a Master’s degree in 2008 and a Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering in 2014. His doctoral research focused on the “Power Management of Miniature Implantable Device Systems,” highlighting his commitment to advancing biomedical engineering technologies.

Since joining Penn State, Oren Gall has played a pivotal role in shaping the next generation of engineers. From 2016 to 2023, he served as an Assistant Research Professor, designing and leading courses in digital design and senior design, impacting over 350 students annually. His work in these roles emphasized experiential learning through laboratory-based modules and advanced tools such as Verilog and Altera FPGA.

Beyond teaching, Oren Gall has contributed significantly to research and engineering innovation. As a Postdoctoral Researcher and later a Lithography Engineer at the Materials Research Institute at Penn State, he engaged in advanced projects involving electron beam lithography, deep reactive ion etching, metal evaporation, and nanowire fabrication. His efforts culminated in a publication in the Journal of Astronomical Instrumentation, reflecting his contributions to the field of nanotechnology and integrated circuit design.

Oren Gall’s professional achievements are underscored by his licensure with the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers (PE085110), affirming his expertise and commitment to ethical engineering practices.

In his current role, Oren Gall combines his technical expertise, teaching acumen, and leadership skills to inspire students, advance engineering education, and foster innovation within the field.
